- Nouns in the neuter which end in -a make the plural with -or
Examples: flicka (girl) - flickor (girls) blomma (flower) - blommor (flowers)
- Nouns in the non-neuter which end in an unstressed -e make the plural with -ar
Examples: pojke (boy) - pojkar (boys)
- Other nouns in the non-neuter make the plural with one of the following, -ar, -er or -r (the latter only applies if the word ends in a vowel)

- Nouns in the neuter make the plural with -n if they end in a vowel, otherwise they do not change
